HOW IT WAS!
R.W. Boyle brings the good Doctor and his fascinating times back to life. Meet John Henry “Doc” Holliday, shake the hand that held the gun, and hear for yourself the almost unbelievable tales of one of the strangest paradoxes of the Old West!
Doc will present formal or informal “talks” from a few minutes up to two hours. On stage, after dinner, a campfire; many settings are possible. Doc will take your guests questions about his life and times. Doc can also work one-on-one, as just another interesting guest circulating between guests and tables at your event.
In appropriate situations, Doc allows your guests to examine his firearms. Sometimes this affords an opportunity to teach basic firearms etiquette and safety to guests who have had little exposure to firearms in their own lives. These real cowboy firearms always spark interest, questions, and stories.
Caveat Emptor
Consider your group with care!
Doc is a real historical character. It ain’t all pretty. Medical problems, war, family tragedy, gambling, whores and gunfights, all rolled into the history of the times.
The firearms are REAL! Doc carries NO LIVE AMMUNITION!
However, BLANKS (if used?) can be loud.
You need to be sure that your location has no impediments to the presence of real, working firearms. If you are in doubt, contact your local police for information.

Let’s Talk!

Dr. John Henry Holliday
8/14/1851 – 11/8/1887
How did a young Southern gentleman become the most feared, legendary shootist of the Old West? Hear, from the spittin’ image of Doc himself, how the trail led from rural Georgia to The Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery and then to the OK Corral in Tombstone.
What adventures did Doc have in the frontier cities of Dallas, Fort Griffin, Denver, Cheyenne, Deadwood, Dodge City and Tombstone? How did Doc meet Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson and other bigger-than-life figures of the American West? Who was Big-Nose Kate and what hand did she play in Doc’s life? How did Doc live through it all only to die in bed at the ripe old age of 36?

Your group will be joined by Doctor John Henry Holliday. A Southern gentleman well educated for his times and about his times. (1851 to 1887) A Doctor of Dental Surgery (1872), socially adept, with a good sense of humor, popular in his own times as a young man in the social circles of Atlanta, Georgia.
He is also the Doc Holliday of Western legend, friend of Wyatt Earp, Gambler, Plainsman, Gunfighter! A major participant in the “Gunfight at the OK Corral”.
A lightning temper, iron courage and uncanny skills with the tools of his trades, helped Doc survive for fifteen years on the “Circuit” in some of the wildest times and places of the famous American West. He wound up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, dead of consumption at 36. He died in bed.
Doc will appear in the appropriate dress of his times, equipped with the “tools” of his trades. He will be armed with antique and/or replica, real firearms of the types known to have been used by Doc.
Doc will tell your group “How It Was!” Stories and tales in the first person from the adventures of one of the shapers-of-the-clouds of Western Legend. Some will see a glimpse of the real man hidden away in the mists of time.
